Buying and Caring for Backpacking Sleeping Bags
Wednesday, September 28th, 2011If you’re planning on hiking regularly throughout the year it’s more than likely that an all purpose three seasons sleeping bag is not going to be your only sleeping bag. It is quite possible you may need to have two or even three different sleeping bags in your collection. Each bag will be suitable for different times of the year and/or different climates.
Choosing a sleeping bag for hiking involves much more consideration than the average tent camper needs to put in. Tent campers who stay put or only go on day hikes aren’t going to need an ultra light weight sleeping bag that can keep them warm in sub zero temperatures. For a hiker who likes to wander up into the mountains during the height of winter this consideration is vital and may even be life saving.
