If you’ve ever been forced to lay awake all night while freezing cold on a camping trip despite being rugged up in a sleeping bag you may have been enlightened to the fact that not all sleeping bags are equal. Sleeping bags are generally rated on their ability to keep you warm at certain specified lowest temperature so if you’re freezing cold while in your sleeping bag then it is a fairly safe bet that you bought the wrong one.
The basic sleeping bag that is adequate for the three milder seasons of the year are often referred to as 3 season sleeping bags. They are considered to be the most versatile of all bags and most campers will have at least one in their collection of camping gear. They are generally the cheaper of the range as their requirements for keeping you warm are easier and cheaper to manufacture than something that is designed to keep you alive in sub-zero temperatures.
